We’ll get four dishes: One Massamann-Curry with chicken, fried fish with thai herbs, mango salad with dried fish and the fourth one is also a salad which consists of corn and is a little more spicy. So let’s try the prepared dishes. Here we have the corn salad, it’s a little spicy but fruity as well. Very good. Let’s try the Curry. Tastes like Curry with a nutty aftertaste. Nuts are in it and you taste. I think that fits very well. Let’s try the mango salad. Here you can see the little dried fish. The fish adds a salty taste which goes along well with the mango I like it. I like it. Okay, let’s dig out this big fish. It’s very gentle and soft. It’s well-done. Well done chef! The special thing about this place is that all the chairs and tables are in the river. On a really hot day you can come here and can put your feet and legs into the cool water. But how to get there? Go northwards from Khao Lak up to the Beyond Hotel, then turn right. After 400m turn right again and you will see the sign of the restaurant. Today we are at another special restaurant in Khao Lak, which is called Phuview. It’s located on a hill, where you have a spectacular view of Khao Lak. The restaurant is open all week long from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. So you are able to have breakfast over there. The Phuview is located in Khao Lak. Right next to ,,Patty’s’’ is a pravel path, which will bring you to the restaurant. You can walk up there in about 15 minutes but it’s pretty exhausting. Instead you can call the restaurant directly so they can pick you up. Don’t forget to reserve a table because most of the time it’s fully booked. The Phuview is pretty new and exists for only one year. The offer thaifood as well as erupean dishes. ,,Phat Thai’’ for example is a thai dish which you get for only 80 THB or a Thai-Curry for only 100 THB. If you are more into European food, you can order Spaghetti for 120 THB and a small Chang beer for 70 THB. Hi, today we will show you the Gold Elephant Restaurant. The restaurant is located at the southern end of Khao Lak. The restaurant is open every day. In the high-season between 12 a.m. and 11 p.m. During the low-season from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. The last orders will be taken at 10 p.m. One of the great things in this restaurant is, they offer the menu in different languages If your English skills are not that good, you can order in your language. Here we have the so-called ,,King-Prawns’’. They are fried and spiced with garlic and pepper. Over more we have one pepper-sauce, sweet-and-sour-sauce and seafood-sauce in thai-style. Another good thing is, the King-Prawns will be freshly prepared everyday. The restaurant offers traditional thai-food, which is freshly prepared and dressed nicely. Of course they offer European dishes too. Hi, I’m Siri from Khao Lak Land Discovery. Today we are at Memories Beach Bar. There are not many beach restaurants in Khao Lak. It’s located in the South of Pakarang and the Apsara Hotel, which is only a few metres behind me. Right now we’re in front of the surf shop, which is behind Memories Beach Bar Here you can borrow some surfboards. A board is 200 THB for one hour. Three hour would be 300 THB and six hours 500 THB. If you can’t surf you can attend a surf lesson anyways. One hour with a teacher would be 1000 THB. And then just jump right into the water! You can spend a really nice day at the beach. You can relax or surf all day long. In high-season you can come here everyday. The opening hours in high-season and low-season are from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. If you come here during the low-season, it might be closed somedays. Today we’re at Baan Khao Lak Seafood Restaurant, which is open daily from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. You’ll find the restaurant if you southwards from Khao Lak center. Over the hill and then you will see a gateway on the right which leads to the hotels Merlin and Emerald. After a few metres, on the right side as well, you’ll see a big sign with the title of the restaurant. Unfortunately it’s only in Thai. The special thing about that is, they offer horseshoe crab. But you don’t eat the crabs meat, only the eggs. The meat contains very little meat and doesn’t taste good. Mainly it’s about the eggs as you can see. They are tiny, yellow and are mixed together with mango, peanuts and chili. If you want to order this dish, it’s only on the Thai menu. Not on the English one. So show them a picture and they know what you want. You can order in Thai as well. It would be Yum-Khai-Mang-Da. Well, I expected, they would crack if you bite them, like caviar But it’s not like that. It feels a little chewy. The taste is not that strong, but it’s okay. I would eat it again. Another feature about this restaurant is, they offer crocodiles meat, if you’d like to try something adventurous. It’s sun dried meat getting fried. Just try it. The restaurant offers many kinds of seafood. Everything is prepared freshly because they have their own farm where they grow fish, prawns and crabs on their own. Hi, I’m Siri from Khao Lak Land Dsicovery and we are in front oft he Khrua Khao Lak Restaurant. It’s so special because they offer mainly Isaan food. Isaan is a certain kind of food from the north-east Thailand. The taste is very different compared to Thai food here. The restaurant is not directly in Khao Lak center, it’s in the next small town, which is called Bang Niang. Not far from the Build Market and right in front of the Forest Resort, so you can recognize it’s next to the Mango Café. The restaurant is open every day. During high-season from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. and during the low-season from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Here we have Gaeng Om. It’s a kind of soup with a range of vegetables and it’s pretty spicy. There are many different opportunities of this dish. You can order with pork, chicken or beef. This is Gaeng Om Moo with pork. Here we have Miang Pla. This dish contains fried fish which is mixed up with chili, peanuts, ginger and bites of lemon. Everything together is a taste sensation. Let me try. It tastes like sweet, bitter and sour. The perfect combination. Except the normal rice, you also eat sticky rice in Isaan. It’s named like that since you can eat it with your hands. Just pick up a piece and eat it together with the next dish. This is Lap Goi, it’s made of beef and the meat is not boiled, we eat it raw with different herbs. So just take the sticky rice and put it in. In this way you can it both things together. It has a bitter aftertaste, you must be used to it. But that’s typical Isaan food. Here we have Keng Hed, a soup made of mushrooms, as you can see. It contains many kinds of mushrooms. And is spiced with tamarind and fish sauce. That’s why the sauce is black. So let’s try. It’s spicier than usual but not too spicy. The mushrooms give a nice taste, very good. You may have recognized that it Thailand are lots of papaya salad, also known as Som Tam. There’s a special one in Isaan, it’s called Som Tam Pu Pra Ra. In this case they added a salty crab and a fermented fish sauce. This is one of my favourite salads. Let me try: spicier than the normal one but you can order not spicy as well. And the taste: for me better than the others. Hi, I’m Siri from Khao Lak Land Discovery and we show you 10 special restaurants in Khao Lak. We are in front of the Go Pong restaurant, which offers typical thai food. It’s about 300m southwards from the traffic light, in the center of Khao Lak. The restaurant is open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Here we have four traditional dishes for you. The first one is Keang-Keaw-Wan-Kai, which is a kind of green curry with chicken. The paste is cooked in coconut milk. The next one is Pad-Ka-Poa-Mu-Kroba. It’s crispy fried pork belly with chili. The third one is Tom-Teen-Kai, also known as chicken feet. Thai people love it, for European people have to get used to it. But you but definitely try it. Our last dish is Pad-Pak-Boong. This is fried spinach, or in English Morning Glory. Here it’s served with chili, garlic and oyster sauce. It’s a very popular vegetable for Thai people. When you go to a restaurant all people order different dishes, so everyone can try everything. Just take a few spoons on your plate. Right now we’re in front of the Muan Lai Restaurant. The best way to get there, is going southwards from Khao Lak. The restaurant is over the hump and on the right side you can see a big sign with the title of the restaurant. But you can’t miss it. We’re at the Muan Lai Restaurant, which means ,,having fun’’. As you can see the special thing about this restaurant is the view of the never-ending beach of Khao Lak. The restaurant offers mainly Thai food but especially Isaan food. This kind of food has its roots from the northern part of Thailand. But they offer western food as well. You could walk there but it’s out of Khao Lak. Additionally it’s way too hot and pretty stressful with this weather. So we recommend to you taking a taxi. Tell your driver the name of the restaurant and he will bring you there. The opening hours are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m So you can decide whether you want to come for lunch and have a great view of the clear, blue, beautiful water or watching the sunset in the evening. Our next restaurant is located right in the Lam Ru National Park. The special thing about that is the location and you have a spectacular view of the Andaman Sea The atmosphere is really relaxing since you hear the waves crashing and the chirr of the cicada. And the blowing wind can be very refreshing. They offer only Thai food. But this shouldn’t be a problem. They open at 9 a.m. in the morning and close at 4:30 p.m. in the evening. Since the restaurant is located in the national park, you have to pay 200 THB fee. The best way is to combine visiting the national park and afterwards going to the restaurant. The best way to come here is by taxi. The restaurant is out of town. So if you go by foot it would last about an hour. I would only recommend this to sporty people. That’s why I recommend to you taking a taxi. It’s pretty cheap, 150 THB for tow person. For every further person will be 50 THB charged more.
