Coffee Ambassadors Episode #1 : Bratislava Brew Bar

The last I did not have caffeine was last November when I was sick for about two days… it was terrible! I had to walk outside in the cold and I did not know whether it’s the lack of coffee or the fever that felt worse. Hello, my name is David Frajt and I am the owner of Brew Bar Cafe in Bratislava. I decided to enter the coffee business because I thought it’ll be fun. I do not see coffee as a commodity but rather as a community… that hangs around the cafe Which means there’s always a mess around here. The main difference between our specialty coffee and regular coffee is… …that our coffee tastes like coffee supposed to taste. Your ‘average Cup of Joe’ coffee tastes like an ashtray. I drink daily more coffee than doctors’ recommendations. They say 3 cups a day… I drink about 10 to 15 cups. We serve daily around 400 cups of coffee. That’s a lot for Slovakia. This might not be impressive abroad. Selling 100 kilo of coffee a week around here is almost impossible. I do not drink coffee for the caffeine The same way people do not drink wine for the alcohol. Caffeine does not work for me anymore. Maybe it wakes me up in the morning. We drink coffee for pleasure, for the taste… That’s why do we what we do. When I hear the word ‘coffee’… …what comes to my mind is the people, the community I do not see it as a commodity or an industry. I see community of friends. In Slovakia or in Europe in general we all know each other. So I can come to any cafe in Europe and be a well-known rockstar We’ve been open for 3 yeas now… …and I hope we are here to stay. I have a long way to retirement.
