Cambodia closes all N. Korean restaurants in country in response to UN demand

All six North Korean restaurants in Cambodia
have closed along with a handful of others in Thailand and Nepal. A Cambodia-based source told Seoul-based Yonhap
News Agency that the Cambodian government is responding to the UN, which is demanding
all North Korean workers be repatriated and stores be shut down. This comes after Cambodia’s foreign minister
told North Korea that his country as a UN member state has no choice but to comply with
UN Security Council resolutions. Adopted in December two years ago, the sanctions
curb North Korea’s practice of sending workers overseas to earn hard currency for the regime. As the executing period is within two years,
member countries have to hand in a final report of their actions by March 2020.
