We are starting with the thattukadas of Kollam. Quail is like small chicken. But it is tasty and supposed to be healthy also. She is a doctor. We are in Kollam again. We are planning to visit some thattukadas here. And some juices also. This is Payikkada Road near Juma Masjid. Here we get orange juice or orange water. It costs Rs.25. We can have it if we wish. There is lime special. And Masbood also. There are many more items such as cutlet and Ila ada. We are going to try Masbood. After this, we are moving to thattukadaas. This is Masbood. I am having Masbood. It is served in a big glass. This has pineapple, orange, lemon and bird’s eye chili also. Today they haven’t put chili as it was not available. So there will be a slight difference from the usual taste. Spiciness will be less. Let us try. There is glucose also in this. This is orange juice. This is just like lime juice. They put orange instead of lemons. There is soda, glucose, and salt also I think. Yes, it has a slight taste of salt too. Good. This is a refreshing drink for summer. Let us start with masbood and orange drink. After this, we are going to try some thattukada flavors also. We are starting the thattukadas of Kollam. Parotta is first. Which is this place? This is opposite to Jyothi College, Kollam. This is Zakeer Ikka’s family thattukada. Parotaa is the special item in this family thattukada. Dosa is also available. Beef is the special delicacy with parotta. Many people come here for parotta and beef curry. We reached here early before the crowd. As I am allergic to beef, Aisha will try beef and parotta. I will try parotta with potato curry. I can’t eat only vegetarian food. What is thattukada food without omelette? So we will take an omelette. Beef is the most special dish here. So let Aisha taste beef with parotta first. She dipped one piece in the gravy and took one beef piece too. How is it? This is my favorite. You have tasted from here many times? So there is no need of asking. I am feeling so tempted on seeing the beef. I can’t say much about parotta. It is okay. Potato curry is also good. Let me try omelette. Omelette had green chili and onions. It is good. Parotta is also fine. But parotta should be eaten hot when it can be separated into layers. Parotta has to be hot. How is the beef masala? Now the next thattukada for more flavors. We have reached the next place. They have many items such as puttu, idiyapam, appam, and quail fry. Quail fry is their specialty. Let us try that. We already had parotta. So we will have one quail fry. Where exactly is this place? This is opposite to railway station. Near Pranavam theatre. This is FCI godown. This shop is next to it. This is called Salim Ikka’s thattukada. This is Salim thattukada, not Salim Hotel. We can taste quail fry or chicken fry if we come here. Quail fry is being made. By the time, we took one lime tea. It is their specialty, right? I thought of taking just one quail fry. She said we have to take puttu and fish curry too. So I am giving more of puttu to her only. So you eat puttu, fish curry and papadam. Fish curry? Take more. Is this choora fish? Okay, kerachoora. We have a good quail fry. Take from one side. She took it all. Let me also take fish curry, papadam and fish pieces. See, there is one tomato piece. I am keeping it over puttu. Now some fish gravy over it. I want to have a piece of fish also. Kerachoora has thick flesh. I mashed the papapdam like Aisha did. She did in a different style. I am doing it my way. Now we have to mix the puttu and fish gravy well. And one piece of fish with the puttu. How is the fish? Fish is fresh. Fish curry is sour, but not very hot. Good. With the puttu, I am taking one leg of the quail. Quail flesh is very less. Apart from these, they have fish head curry, chicken roast, chicken masala, beef roast, chick peas curry.. Potato curry, puttu, idiyappam, appam..it is a long list. It is not a restaurant, still. Our puttu, quail and fish curry are getting over. Where are we going after this? We will go to have Sharjah. Sharjah shop in Kottamukku. After this is over. Can there be a better conclusion? There is a ceremony going on in the temple. And we are having masala soda. We thought of having sharjah. But after the heavy food, I though it is better to stick to soda.
